Born and raised in Fort Wayne,
Indiana, I was encouraged from earliest childhood to appreciate and
explore fine art and craft. An annual family tradition of creating a
block print Christmas card provided my first exposure to the medium
of printmaking. Even then I was fascinated by the coalescence of
design and technique.
My expression through visual arts has taken many forms, having
worked in such diverse mediums as graphite, pastel, oil painting,
ceramics, and photography. During my undergraduate studies in the
Fine Arts Program of Indiana University (BFA graduate, 2000), I
rediscovered the union of art and craft found in printmaking,
choosing it as my concentration. Since my undergraduate years, I
have participated in several regional and national shows, both
juried and invitational, and have garnered the representation of
galleries in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan.
I moved from the Midwest to Central New York in 2004, inspired by
the natural beauty of the area, following an extended visit with
relatives. My relocation has introduced me to a vibrant community of
dedicated artists, as well as many quality venues in which to
display and sell my work, such as the Chameleon Gallery in Cazenovia
and the retail boutique at Heron Hill Winery in Hammondsport.
I currently live and work in Syracuse, where opportunities to
display my creative output abound. I look forward to my continued
involvement in such ongoing projects as Floating Galleries of
Syracuse, and the Syracuse Cultural Resources Council’s Visual Arts
Showcase series, as well as teaching the occasional printmaking
workshop through my employer, Commercial Art Supply.
